Source: newspaper SENA - June 2010
For the first time in history, SENA will organize a national activity to show the country that has achieved progress in technology and innovation, especially since 2002. Is Expo-SENA 2010 "Competitiveness' Fair", an event which is open to all Colombians, free admission in Corferias, Bogotá, June 30 to July 4, 2010.
Among the activities of Expo-SENA 2010 will be held the Congress of Nanotechnology, July 2nd and 3rd, the event will count with world-class exhibitors.
The first speaker is Hernando Garcia, PhD in Applied Physics from Rutgers University and a professor at Southern Illinois Univerity, who in two conference will explain nanophotonics, ultrafast plasmonics and optics, and their applications in this science. Additionally, it will be Alfonso Lombana, PhD from the University of Toulouse (France), who will talk about of the progress made in this matter in the SENA and nanomedicine of the XXI century.
For the second day of the congress, will speak Wilfrido Moreno, PhD of Electrical Engineering and a researcher and professor at the University of South Florida, which will close this cycle with the nanotubes and their applications. Later, SENA Instructors will share their experiences about working in the TecnoAcademia applied.

Nanoscience 2010
Source: funlaci.orgThe Latin American Foundation for the Promotion of Science - FUNLACI, is pleased to inform you that the NANOSCIENCE INTERNATIONAL SEMINAR 2010, will be held on October 21st to 23rd, 2010 at the Universidad del Norte in Barranquilla, Colombia.
Nanoscience and nanotechnology are emerging disciplines that seek to understand the nanoscale processes that govern the behavior of materials. While the macroscopic properties are fairly well known, properties of nanostructured materials may differ considerably from them.
As devices become smaller and smaller, knowledge of these properties becomes more important. This new orientation of science is very interdisciplinary, involving physics, chemistry, biology, medicine and materials science and many other fields.
The central idea of this workshop proposed by the Academy of Physical and Natural Sciences ACCEFYN, the Centre of Excellence New Materials CENM and Latin American Foundation for the Advancement of Science - Funlaci, is to put researchers in contact to centers at world level who are developing projects and initiatives in nanotechnology with Colombian groups who are interested in entering this area to establish collaborative projects and exchanges of students and researchers.

The Office of Outreach and Special Projects at the University of Cundinamarca, with the endorsements from the Polytechnic University of Madrid, Publica of Navarre, organized the International Congress on Applications of Nanotechnology in Colombia (Colnanotec 09, on August 13-15, 2009).Courses and conferences were conducted in applied health sciences, agribusiness, environment and ICT in the three days of the event.
COLNANOTEC is an academic event in which researchers worldwide are integrated with those performing and teaching applications of nanotechnology in Colombia, especially in health sciences, agriculture, information systems and communications. It was developed in the form of lectures and workshops in such applications, to showed the benefits of teaching a different approaches to nano in each of their specialties.
